Tools>Firmware

The Firmware page enables you to upload new SonicWALL Internet Security Appliance firmware and activate additional features.

Upload New System Firmware

Click on the Upload Firmware Now button to install new firmware from a file.

Upgrade Features

Click on the SonicWALL link to learn more about SonicWALL upgrades.

SonicWALL Internet Security Appliances can be upgraded to support new or optional features. Click the Upgrade link to display the mySonicWALL.com Login page for accessing your mySonicWALL.com account. Type your mySonicWALL.com account username and password in the Username and Password fields, then click Submit. If you purchased an upgrade and received a license certificate with the Activation Key, type the Activation Key in the Enter upgrade key field and click Submit.

Manual Upgrade for Closed Environments

If your SonicWALL is deployed in a high-security environment that does not allow direct Internet connectivity from the SonicWALL, you can enter the encrypted license key information from www.mysonicwall.com manually in the enter keyset field.

Alert! Manual upgrade of the encrypted License Keyset is only for Closed Environments. If your SonicWALL Appliance is connected to the Internet, it is recommended you use the automatic registration and Security Services upgrade features of your SonicWALL Appliance.

From a Computer Connected to the Internet

  1. Make sure you have an account at www.mysonicwall.com and your SonicWALL Appliance is registered to the account before proceeding.
  2. After logging into www.mysonicwall.com, click on your registered SonicWALL Appliance listed in Registered SonicWALL Products.
  3. Click the View License Keyset link. The scrambled text displayed in the text box is the License Keyset for the selected SonicWALL Appliance and activated Security Services. Copy the Keyset text for pasting into the Tools>Firmware page or print the page if you plan to manually type in the Keyset into the SonicWALL.

From the Management Interface of Your SonicWALL Appliance

  1. Paste (or type) the Keyset (from the step 3) into the keyset field in the Tools>Firmware page.
  2. Click Update. The status field at the bottom displays The configuration has been updated. This completes the upgrade.
  3. You can generate a Tech Support Report on the Tools>Diagnostic page to verify the upgrade details.

Note! After the manual upgrade, the General>Security Services page does not contain any registration and upgrade information.

Alert! The warning message: SonicWALL Registration Update Needed. Please update your registration information remains on the General>Status page after you have registered your SonicWALL Appliance. Ignore this message.
